Montessori Community of Tanzania (MCT) was originally established and registered in 1997 as a society under the Tanzania Societies Ordinance of 1954, with ordinance number SO. NO. 8922. In Tanzania many children do not grow to their full potential due to the poor provision of early childhood education services. Many families and communities are not able to provide the nurturing environment, which children need to thrive and develop their potential. MCT was founded by Montessori Associates (Heads of Montessori Training Centres in Tanzania), who had the objective of maintaining, advocating and furthering the ideas and principles of Dr. Maria Montessori for the full and harmonious development of human beings, from childhood to adulthood.
